Baby “W” {newborn} Spokane Newborn Photographer

I got to meet this little man when he was a few weeks old and his darling big sister.  Although neither one of them were too fond of the idea of photos, we still managed to catch a few keepers :-)

Baby “O” {newborn} | Spokane Newborn Photographer

This little peanut was more interested in watching everything I was doing than sleeping.  I didn’t mind, have you seen his gorgeous baby blues?!?!  He did give in for little stints here and there but he didn’t want to be fiddled with.  Such a sweet boy.

“K” {belly} | Spokane Maternity Photographer

I’m so excited to finally post these photos from back in November.  This has got to be one of my funnest shoots to date – chicken wire, old tires, football poses, you name it, it was all there and we included bits and pieces in the session and shared lots of laughs in the process.  This couple has since been blessed with an adorable baby boy.

“S” {belly} | Spokane Maternity Photographer

I had the privilege of photographing this strong momma just days before she headed out of state to deliver her third baby girl.  This special little girl was diagnosed with a congenital anomaly early in her second trimester and her mom fought tooth and nail for only the very best care throughout her pregnancy, labor and delivery, even if it meant living in another state for months.  This little miracle baby arrived on Valentine’s Day and I’m happy to report just had extensive surgery on Tuesday, 3/6 and is doing so well!  She’s gradually being weaned off all the lines and tubes she’s been hooked up to as her condition improves.  What a blessing!  I can hardly wait for them to return home, when I can photograph the little princess in person :-)

A fund has been set up to help cover the ever-increasing hospital bills.  Anything and everything is very much appreciated. Just click below and read more about their story.

“S” Pregnancy Announcement

When I got the news that this couple was expecting baby #2, we immediately started thinking of fun ways to announce their pregnancy.  What we decided on was Pinterest inspired and still makes me melt a little each time I see it.  I’m looking forward to following them on this journey again as I did with big-brother-to-be.

Exciting News!!

I just wanted to take a moment to share some exciting news for those of you that may have missed my original announcement.

That’s right!  We’ll be adding a FOURTH and final addition to our family this September.  My boys have put in their request for a baby sister but they know we get whatever God gives us and they’d be happy either way.  All I care about is a having a healthy baby.  I am moving a bit slower than usual currently as I deal with the not-so-pleasant first trimester accompaniments but I’m still here.  Thank you all for your patience.

“A” is ONE! {baby} | Spokane Baby Photographer

It’s amazing just how quickly time flies, especially when you’re having a good time. I first met this bright-eyed, alert and content squishy little newborn and was privileged to see him every couple months for milestone photos. I can’t believe a year has gone by since I first photographed him. He seemed to know just what to do, crawling right over to my setup and plopping down front and center. He’s always made me giggle with his many facial expressions, which his parents say he must save for me since he doesn’t usually make the same faces when I’m not around. Either way, I always have a good time! Here’s a little peek at his cake smash.

Featured Guest Post | Birdie Baby Boutique

I was turned onto Birdie Baby Boutique roughly a year ago when another shop advertised an ongoing comment game.  I was fairly new to the world of Facebook and I was fascinated by all the wonderful little shops I kept finding.  Birdie Baby Boutique was no exception.  I was instantly drawn to her modern vintage style, unique color and texture combinations, custom wood blocks, the upcycled cupcakes….*swoon*.  After my first couple of purchases, I was sold.  I became a frequent repeat customer, first buying gifts, then for myself and then buying for my photography sessions.  Let’s face it, I couldn’t stop.  What I didn’t realize is that in the midst of corresponding about orders and swapping product photos, a friendship was blossoming.  Never in my wildest dreams would I have imagined that a complete stranger, living thousands of miles away, would soon become one of my dearest friends, but it happened!

Fast forward a year and many, many emails, texts and a few phone calls, and it was decided that I had to meet her.  That’s right, I booked my plane ticket to fly SIX hours to Florida to meet a complete stranger.  Call me crazy but it felt more like I was going to visit an old friend.  We had many plans for the three days I would be there, with emphasis on a visit to an amazing fabric store, and a photo shoot in the craft room where all the Birdie Baby magic happens.  Little did I know, I was in for an even bigger surprise.

I had always experienced top-notch customer service from Katrina since day one, but seeing it up close and personal, all while being an attentive mother to two young children {whom I instantly fell in love with} was incredible.  She embodies the phrase “do-it-all mom”.  She also doesn’t sit still for more than 2 minutes, but that’s beside the point ;-)

Her craft room is not only beautifully decorated from floor to ceiling, but it is also set up to be a place where her two children can be with her.

She spared no expense organizing everything from buttons and ribbons to fabrics and felt.  It’s literally like walking into your own personal craft store.

and her fabrics….oh, her fabrics….

Everything has its own place, with little vintage flea market finds as an added touch.  *Drool*

I’m a little partial to the clock as it was a gift from ME!!  You can get one from And Furthermore on Etsy.

Birdie Baby Boutique is the real deal folks.  Everything is is hand picked by Katrina, designed with her customers in mind.  She hand rolls every rosette, sews every ruffle, cuts, sands and stains her own blocks/prop boxes.  She does it all.  I know I gush over Birdie Baby Boutique often, as I am constantly adding to my own personal as well as photography prop collection, but I mean it when I say she is one of a kind and her products speak for themselves.

Here’s what Katrina had to say about her journey with Birdie Baby Boutique.

How did you come up with the name Birdie Baby Boutique?
-I love birds. My dad and I both do.  He collected Stangl Birds and many hours of my childhood were spent antiquing with my family. I just thought they were the most beautiful things in the world {still do, actually}…maybe it’s because nature gave birds such amazing colors!  Delainey’s nursery had lots of little birds in it & I started out making pretties for her…so I naturally gravitated to the name.

How would you describe your style?
-I suppose vintage, but with a modern twist. I really like the turn back to vintage & retro products and wares. I dont think I specifically have a style because one day I am feeling simplistic in my designs, the next bold & colorful and then vintage & elegant. My style definitely changes depending on my mood.

Who or what inspires you?
-The token answer, of course, my children. They inspire me every day to be the best person I can be and to try in any way possible to better their little lives. That for me has manifested into a business and me tapping into a creativity I actually didn’t even know existed until having them. Creatively speaking, it can be anything that sparks an idea for a headband design…a color, a print, a specific fabric. A word. A name. Anything can set me off!

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
-Hopefully I’m on coast. I love my little business because I can take it with me anywhere. As much as I have {and probably will still} moved in my life, I like the nomadic nature of online selling. I don’t forsee myself trying to have a manufactured product, because I deeply & truly enjoy actually making my creations. I need the hands on, I need the creative design release it provides me. I’m fortunate that I entered this venture not for the additional income, but for the fun… and as long as it’s fun, I’ll keep doing it! I don’t think I could design the way I do if I wasn’t enjoying it.
